Employee Profile: Levi Anderson

Levi Anderson

To the surgeons and operating room staff he visits, Levi Anderson represents Northwest Tissue Services and all of its services, products and capabilities. And he makes sure that they know he’s there to help.

As the Tissue Services’s first regional allograft consultant, Anderson has been the new face of the organization throughout Montana, Eastern Washington and North Idaho since the beginning of the year.

“This position is all about strengthening our relationships,” notes Anderson. “We truly want feedback from our clients about the tissues we provide and how we can better meet their needs.”

Before breaking new ground with his current position, Anderson had been with the Tissue Services for five years as a technologist, so he is well prepared to offer expert training on the preparation and use of Tissue Services allografts.

“The Tissue Services has an impeccable reputation for offering the option of donation to families throughout our region,” he says. “And part of my job is to solidify that reputation with additional services to our transplant partners.

“I hope to perpetuate the atmosphere of
accountability and responsibility that the Tissue Services has
created for our clients.”

“I’m really not a salesman,” he explains. “I’m communicating that the Tissue Services is the community-based, nonprofit tissue bank equipped to provide all allograft tissue needs, whether that means specific allograft tissues or a presentation to educate staff. If we’re not meeting their needs, I want to know why.”

In all cases, his goal is to uphold the Tissue Services’s reputation for responsibility and accountability.

Recently, the University of Montana graduate has been aiding clients in understanding and complying with the JCAHO initiatives (see “New tissue standards,” page 3). There is, he’s found, a great need to increase awareness of the regulations governing tissue handling, storage, and use after the tissue reaches the hospital.

“The Tissue Services has been adhering to these standards since its inception,” Anderson says. “We can help hospitals understand the basis for the regulations, share some tools for complying, and generally help them to get the ball rolling.”
