Osteoarticular Program
Northwest Tissue Services has been a leader in long bone and osteoarticular allografts, especially in children, since our founding in 1988. We take pride in an inventory that can provide many osteoarticular allografts to hospitals in our region as well as nationally.
As with our entire tissue inventory, we coordinate with physicians and hospitals to supply their specific inventory needs. As a local, community tissue bank, we are readily available to review x-rays provided by the physician to match their graft specifications to one in our supply that fits their specific need.
Osteoarticular tissues have been transplanted by orthopedic surgeons in many limb sparing procedures. Orthopedic surgeons perform limb sparing procedures when transplanting large bone grafts such as whole femurs, tibias, ulnas and humeri into patients who, without the graft, may face amputation. These large grafts are also utilized for revisions of metallic total hip and knee replacements that have failed.
