Musculoskeletal Program
Northwest Tissue Services' musculoskeletal program provides a wide range of graft types for patients with malignancies, degenerative diseases or traumatic injuries. Bone grafts are frozen or freeze-dried to provide a structural matrix for new bone growth. Frozen patellar and Achilles tendons are provided for patients who have traumatically ruptured their anterior cruciate ligament and have knee instability. Frozen fascia is utilized as a replacement for dura in neurosurgeries, as a supportive covering, or for reconstructive repairs.
Skin grafts are provided for patients suffering from severe burns. These grafts serve as a temporary covering to promote healing, reduce pain, and prevent fluid loss and infection which can cause death in these immune-compromised patients.
At Northwest Tissue Services, musculoskeletal recovery is based on the inventory needs of the physicians and hospitals that we serve. Our controlled recovery procedures are only performed in an operating room environment, and are never post-autopsy. In accordance with AATB standards, all tissues are recovered using aseptic surgical techniques.
