Tissue donation provides the families of donors the comfort of knowing that their loved ones have contributed so much to the lives of others in need. Surveys show that for virtually all donor families, donation affirms and honors the fundamental humanity and generosity of their loved ones. In many cases, especially in the deaths of children and young adults, tissue donation can give their parents, other family members, and friends the comfort of knowing that some good has resulted from their tragic loss.
Northwest Tissue Services is committed to serving donor families during and after the donation. Every donor family becomes a part of the Northwest Tissue Services bereavement program, which offers families support after their loss. Donor family recognition ceremonies are held annually in cooperation with other procurement agencies.
