Our commitment to safety and quality
As part of our commitment to making safety paramount, Northwest Tissue Services uses controlled recovery procedures that are only performed in an operating room environment and are never post-autopsy. Northwest Tissue Services procures tissue aseptically and processes it by strict adherence to surgical principles and clean-room protocols. Recoveries are performed in a Class 100 operating room located in our facility or, when the donor cannot be transferred to Tissue Services, in hospital operating rooms.
Arrangements for hospital procurements are made by a Tissue Services coordinator and scheduling is done to avoid interference with hospital routines and to minimize inconvenience. Following the tissue recovery, the technologists reconstruct the donor to allow for normal funeral arrangements.
