What kinds of tissue can be donated
There are many types of tissues that can be donated:
- Bone, such as the humerus, femur, tibia, fibula, ribs and other long bones
- Ligaments, tendons and cartilage
- Heart valves
- Certain veins and arteries
- Corneas and other eye tissue
- Skin
Northwest Tissue Services handles all recovery, processing, storage and distribution of tissue types shown above except corneas and other eye tissues. We work in partnership with SightLife, formerly Lions Eye Bank. Click here to learn more about SightLife.
Each year, new discoveries are being made on how to transplant many types of tissues.
