Twenty Years of Leadership
Northwest Tissue Services (NWTS), a department of Puget Sound Blood Center, was established in 1988 as a nonprofit, community-sponsored tissue bank through agreements with the University of Washington - Department of Orthopaedics and the Northwest Kidney Center. NWTS is an accredited member of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and has been recognized nationally for our leadership in tissue banking.
Since our establishment in 1988, Northwest Tissue Services of Puget Sound Blood Center has remained true to our commitment to provide high-quality human tissue for transplant to patients in a broad service area that today includes Washington, Montana and Northern Idaho. Northwest Tissue Services has provided more than 100,000 high-quality, safe allografts transplanted to patients throughout the country and abroad, with 85 percent going to patients in the Northwest. In addition, Tissue Services has trained tissue bankers from around the world. We are proud of our international reputation and will continue to work to improve all aspects of tissue banking.
As the most knowledgeable and experienced tissue resource in the Northwest, we are committed to continuing our 20-year tradition of being an industry leader, dedicated to ethical practices, quality and safety, and to provide our hospital partners and donor families with the highest-quality service possible.
