Sandra Steele, RN MS FACHE (R)

Supervisor, Donation and Hospital Development Programs

With a wealth of varied experience and training, Sandy Steele is uniquely qualified for her position as supervisor of Northwest Tissue Services' donation and hospital development programs.

In addition to degrees in nursing, allied health and business administration, she has more than 30 years of hospital experience ranging from staff nurse and in-service instructor to the highest levels of patient care and hospital administration.

Her years as executive director of patient care services at Stevens Hospital and as both senior vice president of patient care and executive vice president of operations at Boulder Community Hospital have prepared her well for oversight of programs at Tissue Services. Earlier positions at other hospitals provided her with the foundation of skills she's used to succeed in hospital management. And her business background is directly applicable to marketing Tissue Services to hospitals.

As a nurse, Sandy has always kept patients and patient families in mind as she undertook any of her responsibilities. She has naturally transferred that sensitivity to her work with donor families.

"The strength and generosity of our donor families is remarkable," she says. "What they are going through is foremost in our thoughts and actions during the entire donation process Ð and beyond. They are always part of our larger donor family."
