2000 Calendar Shares 'Dedications'

Go to Dedications "Dedications" was created by the Northwest Tissue Services in collaboration with Northwest Lions Eye Bank.

Following the positive response to "Extending Horizons," the 1999 donor and recipient tribute calendar, the Northwest Tissue Services was pleased to share "Dedications," a year 2000 calendar. It was distributed primarily to medical professionals and others whose support is essential to the fulfillment of our mission.

The 2000 calendar commemorates the individuals who have become tissue, eye and organ donors through reflections on eight donors. "Dedications" also celebrates the promise of hope that all donation provides patients in need through the introduction of six tissue and cornea transplant recipients. Interspersed with photos of the donors and transplant recipients are images that reflect the beauty of the seasons and joys of life.

"By sharing the stories of those who donated `life gifts,' we hope to strengthen the professional community's commitment to calling us when patients die, enabling us to provide the donation option to families who have lost a loved one," said Candy Wells, hospital services supervisor.

The calendar will also be used to educate our general community about the importance of discussing donation with their families and to increase the awareness of the tremendous need for organs and tissues for transplant.
