Organ & Tissue Donation Gets Stamp of Approval
A postage stamp encouraging organ and tissue donation was formally issued before the largest gathering of organ and tissue recipients and their families on August 5. The unveiling ceremony was scheduled as part of the 1998 National Transplant Games, a competitive event for organ recipient athletes, at Ohio State University, Columbus.
First-time stamp artist Andy Levine designed the stamp, which features an abstract drawing off two intertwined figures touching each other's heart and the words "Organ and Tissue Donation - Share Your Life." Fifty million stamps were printed and are available at post offices nationwide.
